Super Bowl 2025: Saquon Barkley now has record for rushing yards in a full season

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley in Super Bowl 59 has passed Terrell Davis for most rushing yards in a full season (meaning both regular season and playoffs).

Davis rushed for 2,476 for Denver in 1998. Barkley entered this Super Bowl with 2,447 yards. He had 2,478 at halftime.

Barkley tied Davis’ record with a 9-yard run with 4:49 left in the second quarter, then passed the mark with a 2-yard carry on the last snap of the first half.

Overall, the Chiefs kept Barkley contained during the first half. The former Whitehall High School and Penn State star had just 31 yards.

Barkley has been a big part of the Eagles run in the postseason. In the division round playoff game against the Rams he ripped off touchdown runs of 62 and 78 yards in the Eagles’ 28-22 win, the latter touchdown coming in the snow.

Barkley became the ninth back in NFL history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in the regular season as the Eagles marched toward the Super Bowl.
