Former Lehigh Valley IronPig Joey Meneses hit a three-run double in the fifth inning and the Syracuse Mets went to a 6-2 victory Saturday night at Coca-Coal Park.
The IronPigs’ eight-game winning streak, second-longest in franchise history, came to an end. They slip to 10-3 this season and slip into a first-place tie in the International League with Jacksonville.
The last time Lehigh Valley started the season 10-2, it lost nine of its next 12 games in 2012.
Niko Goodrum and Donovan Walton later added solo home runs off Lehigh Valley reliever Max Lazar gave Syracuse a couple insurance runs.
Justin Crawford singled, doubled, walked, drove in a run and stole a base for the IronPigs.
Roster moves
RHP Austin Schulfer was reinstated from the Development List. He has a 13.50 ERA in two games. Catcher Payton Henry was placed on the 7-day injured list with a bruised right hand.
First baseman Carson Taylor was transferred to the 60-day IL with a torn labrum in right shoulder. He had five hits in seven at-bats in the three games he played before getting hurt.

Top 4: Billy McKinney walked to lead off, took second on Joey Meneses’ one-out single. Luke Ritter’s two-out infield single included a throwing error to allow McKinney to score. Mets 1-0.
Top 5: Gilberto Celestino singled to lead off. Jose Azocar walked with one out. Jon Singleton walked with two outs to load the bases. Joey Meneses, the 2018 IL MVP and rookie of the year with the IronPigs, hit a three-run double. He has 13 hits this season, 11 of them are doubles. Mets 4-0.
Bottom 5: Cal Stevenson led off with a walk, stole second two outs later and scored on Justin Crawford’s single. Mets 4-1.
Bottom 6: Gabriel Rincones hit a 112.7-mph laser for his third home run of the year to lead off. Mets 4.2.
Top 8: Niko Goodrum hit his first home run of the year, an opposite-field shot off IronPigs reliever Max Lazar, with two outs. It was his first extra-base hit of the year. Mets 5-2.
Top 9: Donovan Walton hit a solo home run on an 0-2 pitch off Lazar, his first extra-base hit of the year, to lead off. Mets 6-2.
Rehabbing pitchers
LHP Ranger Suarez (low back stiffness) allowed one hit in three scoreless innings with four strikeouts Thursday for low-A Clearwater.
RHP Andrew Painter (Tommy John surgery) allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk in 1 1/3 innings Friday for Clearwater. He struck out three and threw 21 of 37 pitches for strikes. He last pitched Sept. 16, 2022, for Double-A Reading.
