Tami Shimp Named New Berks Nature President, Succeeding Kim Murphy

From Berks Nature

Berks Nature is proud to announce the appointment of Tami Shimp as its new President, succeeding Kim Murphy, who has served with distinction and dedication for 21 years.

Tami Shimp brings a wealth of experience, visionary leadership, and a deep commitment to the organization’s mission. Her appointment marks a new chapter in the organization’s journey.

“Kim’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping our organization’s growth and impact. We are deeply grateful for her service,” said Kirsten Deysher, Board Chair. “Kim’s legacy leaves a strong foundation; Tami’s appointment ensures that foundation continues to grow in impact and reach.”

Deysher expressed gratitude to the transition committee of the board and former board members who conducted a thoughtful national search for their next leader. “Tami has been a part of Berks Nature for nearly 30 years in a variety of positions, most recently, Vice President for Development & Community Relations. Throughout her tenure, Tami has demonstrated the ability to bridge strategy with compassion — guiding teams, securing major donor relationships, and representing Berks Nature’s values in every setting. She has long been a trusted face of our organization, and now she will lead with both familiarity and fresh perspective.”

Kim Murphy expressed her confidence in the transition, stating, “It has been an honor to serve as President. I am excited to see Tami take the helm and continue advancing our mission with energy and innovation.”

Tami Shimp will officially assume the role on Friday, Dec. 12, and she looks forward to engaging with staff, partners, and the community to further the organization’s goals.
