The City of Reading announces a temporary road and sidewalk closure on Penn Street due to ongoing demolition work.
Beginning Monday, March 3, through Friday, March 14 (tentatively), the westbound lane of Penn Street between 4th and 5th streets will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Due to the nature of the work, the westbound lane will remain closed at all times, including overnight hours. The eastbound lane will remain open.
Detour Route
Motorists traveling west on Penn Street will be detoured as follows:
- Turn right onto 5th Street.
- Turn left onto Washington Street.
- Turn left onto 4th Street to return to Penn Street.
Drivers are encouraged to plan for additional travel time and use caution when navigating the detour route. The City of Reading appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this necessary work.
