Terre Hill Boy Scout Troop wins 1st, 3rd in Klondike event

Over the weekend of Feb. 4 to 6, Terre Hill Boy Scout Troop 172 participated in the 2022 Susquehanna District Yukon Gold Rush Klondike event at Camp Mack, which is part of the Pennsylvania Dutch Council, Boy Scouts of America.

There were a total of 31 patrols participating from 20 different area troops. Leading up to the weekend, scouts worked on preparing their gear and sled to work through 13 different stations setup throughout the woods testing them on various skills and knowledge such as fire building, first aid, knots, compass skills, teamwork and more. Scouts could earn up to 20 points at each station, along with bonus points for camping out Friday night.

Terre Hill Troop 172 had one patrol participating, with The Prospectors winning 1st place themed flag, 3rd place Klondike sled design and 1st place for patrol spirit.

Participants included Andrew Herman, Declan Redcay, Logan Sheehan, Caleb Myers, Spencer Babb, Aaron Cress and Matthew Herman. Adult leaders who helped with the event were Jim Leonard, Dwayne Leonard, Wayne Koppey, John Hansen, Barney Fitzwater and Chad Herman.
