The Fabulous Greaseband performs after Kutztown Kruizz

Saturday, July 30, will be a busy fun-filled day in the Borough of Kutztown.

Start the day off at the annual Kutztown Kruizz car show on Main Street from noon to 4 p.m.

One of the fasted growing car events in the region, the Kruizz annually attracts more than 250 cars and several thousand spectators. Hosted by Kutztown Strong, a local charitable non-profit, proceeds benefit programs and activities that support the behavioral health and wellbeing of local children, youth and families.

Shake, Rattle and Soul will perform oldies music on the Main Street Stage. Local artist Miriam Clancey will perform on the Uptown Stage and Young Ones Records will present an in-store concert.

There will be children’s art areas at Kutztown Printing, Local Folks Creative Studio and Paradise Lost. Boy Scouts will have Kruizz related activities for children, too. City Cuts Barber Shop will offer free haircuts on Main Street. Visitors can vote for the People’s and Kids Trophies. Participating businesses will also choose their favorite cars. Kutztown Mayor Jim Schlegel will present the Mayor’s trophy. There will be a 50/50 raffle as well as door prizes awarded to the drivers.

After the Kruizz, travel down Main Street to Kutztown Park for a free concert by The Fabulous Greaseband as part of the 2022 Borough of Kutztown Concert Series in the Park.

Back by popular demand to Kutztown Park’s stage, the seven-member group will recreate the memorable oldies and rock & roll performances of the best artists spanning the period from the 1950s through the 1990s from 6 to 8 p.m. (note time changed from usual 7 p.m. start), rain or shine, in the covered bandshell.

In their 49th year of existence, The Fabulous Greaseband performs extensively along the East Coast between Washington, D.C. through New York City. Their sounds and energetic, dynamic delivery in their performances of the greatest dance songs of that era will take you on a walk down memory lane, with the sounds of the memorable Doo Wop groups, Oldies bands, and Rock & Roll icons such as Frankie Vali and the Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, The Righteous Brothers, Chuck Berry, Chubby Checker, The Platters, Elvis Pressley, BTO, Patsy Kline, K.C. & the Sunshine Band, Bob Seiger.

Enjoy seating in the covered bandshell or bring lawn chairs and blankets for the grass area. Come early, the concert is anticipated to fill up fast.

The park concession stand, run by Saucony Creek Grille,  will be open before and during the concert.
