Three more Berks basketball teams to open District 3 playoffs with games Tuesday

Two Berks boys teams and one Berks girls team will open play in the District 3 basketball playoffs Tuesday.

In Class 6A boys, seventh-seeded Wilson (17-7) will host 10th-seeded Cedar Crest in a first-round game at 7 p.m.

In Class 1A boys, seventh-seeded High Point (14-7) will host 10th-seeded West Shore Christian (12-10) in a first-round game at 7:30 p.m. Ninth-seeded Coventry Christian (10-10) is playing eighth-seeded Conestoga Christian (13-9) at High Point at 6 p.m.

In Class 3A girls, sixth-seeded Brandywine Heights (15-8) is at third-seeded Pequea Valley (20-2) in a quarterfinal game at 7 p.m.

Wilson is making its sixth straight appearance and has reached the quarterfinals in the previous five. Last year, the Bulldogs beat Waynesboro 61-47 in the first round.

Tuesday’s winner advances to play at second-seeded Cumberland Valley (19-3) in a quarterfinal game Friday at 7 p.m.

Wilson is looking to win its first title since beating Reading High in the 2020 final. The Bulldogs lost to the Red Knights in the 2021 final.

High Point is making its fourth straight appearance. The Eagles have reached the semifinals each of the previous two seasons.

High Point beat West Shore Christian 53-43 on Feb. 23 in the CCAC quarterfinals.

Brandywine Heights is making its third straight appearance. Last year, it beat Pequea Valley 54-40 in the third-place game for its first district victory since 2015.

The Bullets lost to the Braves 37-28 in December.
