Thursday’s highlights: Cappellano, McClusky propel Oley Valley in baseball; Nudy wins two events at Olympian Invite

Gryffin Cappellano (3-for-3) and Wyatt McClusky (2-for-2) each knocked in two runs in Oley Valley’s 8-2 baseball win over Brandywine Heights on Thursday.

In other events or games:

• Twin Valley freshman Addison Nudy won two events Thursday at the Olympian Invite track and field meet at Jim Thorpe High School.

Nudy won the high jump in a personal best 5-5 and the triple jump in 35-8. She finished third  in the long jump at 16-2½.

• Blake Heck had 16 kills, two blocks, nine digs, three aces and 14 assists in Daniel Boone’s 3-2 boys volleyball win over Wilson on Thursday.

•  Aiden Curley went had a double and knocked in two runs in Berks Catholic’s 4-2 non-league baseball win over Upper Dauphin.

• In the same game, pitcher Sean Kelly struck out eight for the Saints (14-3).

• Winning pitcher Mackenzie O’Brien struck out eight in Exeter’s 4-3 softball win over Conrad Weiser.

• Braydon Ambruster had 12 kills in Brandywine Heights’ 3-0 boys volleyball victory over Berks Catholic.

• Karly Hyde had three goals and six assists in Wyomissing’s 12-3 non-league girls lacrosse victory over Cocalico.

• Alyse Weber scored six goals in Berks Catholic’s 15-10 girls lacrosse win over Exeter.

• Micah Nagle had an ace, 10 kills and a block in Schuylkill Valley’s 3-0 volleyball win over Kutztown.

• Olivia Keller (2 RBIs), Madi Farrell and Tatum Werley each hit home runs in Wilson’s 5-3 softball win over Berks Catholic on Thursday.

•  Jack Forry had 24 assists, four aces and four digs in Exeter’s 3-0 volleyball win over Fleetwood.

• Braydon Ambruster had 12 kills in Brandywine Heights’ 3-0 volleyball victory over Berks Catholic.
