Troop Train Reenactment in Boyertown Sept. 28

from General Carl Spaatz USAAF Museum

The Colebrookdale Railroad, General Carl Spaatz USAAF Museum, and Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles have teamed up to present a reenactment and tour of a WW2 troop train and departure on Saturday, Sept. 28. Reenactors will be present to guide visitors through the train, including a special hospital operating theater car and vintage military vehicle display. At 5 p.m., the train will depart the station with the public invited to purchase tickets to ride along.

Before and during WWII, thousands of men and women left their hometowns and boarded trains that would take them to their first military assignments. They were full of anticipation and excitement, laughter and tears. For most, it was their first trip away from family and friends; many would not return.

Join us on Saturday, Sept. 28, as Boyertown revisits a troop train send off from the 1940s. The train depot will open at 3 p.m. for a military vehicle walk around and the 4:30 p.m. troop train departure ceremony. Tickets to the railroad depot and both museums have been discounted to one special $30 price that includes admission to the museums and the train yard for the military vehicle walk around and troop train ceremony after 3 p.m. The General Carl Spaatz USAAF museum and the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles will be open during normal hours. We encourage you to come into town early to visit the museums before going to the train yard. Tickets can be purchased at any of the venues after 10 a.m. on Sept. 28.

Tickets for the special 5 p.m. troop train ride are for sale on the Colebrookdale Railroad website. You can show that ticket at the Spaatz Museum and Car Museum for free admission on Sept. 28. A ticket for the troop train ride is sold separately on the train website.

While you’re in town, please stop at the new Peppermint Stick vintage ice cream parlor and candy store from the same era.
