Tuesday’s local sports highlights: Detwiler helps Gov. Mifflin win in baseball

Bryce Detwiler was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs to lead Gov. Mifflin to a 7-6 baseball win over Conrad Weiser on Tuesday in Shillington.

The Mustangs are 4-2 Berks I, 7-2 overall. The Scouts are 1-4 Berks II and 5-6.

For Conrad Weiser, Evan Rittle was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Riley Civiello was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

For Gov. Mifflin, winning pitcher Travis Jenkins threw four innings in relief, allowing just one hit, zero runs, two walks and nine strikeouts.

Girls lacrosse

Emily Gauker scored three goals, including the 100th over her career, to help lead Gov. Mifflin (3-2, 3-6) over Schuylkill Valley Panthers (3-2, 7-4).

Giana Kaylor scored a team-high five goals for Schuylkill Valley.

Megan Baldwin scored three goals and had one assist, and Isabella Seidel three goals and had two assists for Gov. Mifflin.

Softball

Tatum Werley went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to lead Wilson (7-2) over Brandywine Heights Bullets (3-7) in Mertztown. Ashley Nace went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Brandywine Heights.

Track and field

Lukas Petersen won the 100 in 11.61, the 400 in 53.36 and the 200 in 23.08 to help lead Exeter (1-0, 2-0) over Reading High (0-3, 0-3) in boys track and field on Tuesday at Reiffton.

Petersen was also a member of the winning 400 relay team that included Jayden Zandier, Leomar Brown and Riley Martinez and won in 43.53.

Quinn Gibson won the 3200 in 10:52.53 for Reading High.

Josiah Newman won the discus with a throw of 169 for Exeter.

Boys volleyball

Reno Plesnarski had seven kills, five digs and two aces, Cooper Hohenadel had seven kills, two digs and two aces, Zach Herman had six kills and Owen Reifsnyder had one kill and 25 assists for Schuylkill Valley in a boys volleyball victory over Kutztown at Leesport.

The Panthers are 4-1, 8-1. The Cougars are 1-4, 1-6.

Dillon Smith had nine kills and Sebastian Rapisarda had one kill, two digs and seven assists for Kutztown.

The game’s scores were: 25-5, 25-7, 25-11.
