Twin Valley beat top-seeded Bishop McDevitt in District 3 girls soccer quarterfinals

Twin Valley advanced to the semifinals of the District 3 girls soccer playoffs for the first time since 1996 by outscoring top-seeded Bishop McDevitt 5-3 in penalty kicks Thursday in a Class 3A quarterfinal that was tied 1-1 through two overtimes at Greencastle.

The eighth-seeded Raiders (13-6-1) and the Crusaders (18-2) each scored in the first half.

Twin Valley, which will be in the semifinals for the second time in program history, will play at fourth-seeded Greencastle-Antrim (18-1-1) Monday at 7 p.m. The Blue Devils beat 12th-seeded Hershey 2-1 Thursday.

No other information was reported.

Lower Dauphin 5, Fleetwood 0: At Hummelstown, the second-seeded Falcons (16-3-1) scored five first-half goals to defeat the seventh-seeded Tigers (13-7-1) in a District 3 Class 3A quarterfinal.

Kristen Economopoulos scored two goals, while Hannah Sanson, Tayla McFarlane and Katelyn Economopoulos each had one.

Lower Dauphin will host third-seeded Northern York, a 3-0 winner over Cocalico Thursday, in a semifinal game Monday.
