Twin Valley falls to Greencastle-Antrim in District 3 Class 3A girls soccer semifinals

Twin Valley gave up two first-half goals and managed just two shots in losing 2-0 to Greencastle-Antrim in a District 3 Class 3A girls soccer semifinal game Monday at Greencastle.

The eighth-seeded Raiders (13-7-1), coming off a win in penalty kicks over top-seeded Bishop McDevitt, were making their first appearance in the semifinals since 1999.

Twin Valley will play third-seeded Northern York for a berth in the PIAA playoffs on Saturday in the third-place game, site and time to be announced. The Polar Bears lost 3-1 to second-seeded Lower Dauphin Monday.

The Raiders last made states in 1999, when they advanced to the final after finishing fourth in the district.

In Monday’s game, Mia Libby scored on a header off a free kick in the eighth minute and Maddie Koons made it 2-0 on a goal in the 24th minute for fourth-seeded Greencastle (19-1-1).

The Blue Devils outshot the Raiders 18-2 and had a 6-0 advantage in corners.

Greencastle and Lower Dauphin will meet in the title game Thursday at Cumberland Valley’s Eagle View Middle School at 6 p.m.
