Twin Valley loses to Abington Heights in PIAA Class 5A girls basketball opener

Twin Valley made just four second-half field goals in falling to Abington Heights 40-24 in a PIAA Class 5A girls basketball first-round game Thursday at Clarks Summit.

The Raiders (16-11) trailed 14-8 after a quarter and 22-15 at the half, but could never rally against the District 2 champion Comets (20-6).

Twin Valley scored just four points in the third quarter, when Abington Heights scored five, and was outscored 13-5 in the fourth.

Natali Foster and Anna Kaplan each scored seven points to lead the Raiders, who were making their fifth state playoff appearance in the last six years.

Anna Scoblick and Caroline Murray each scored 12 for the Comets. Allison Dammer had 11.

Abington Heights will play Mechanicsburg, a 44-37 winner over Radnor Wednesday, in the second round Saturday.
