Two additions to Orwigsburg Holly Trail program

A Santa’s Workshop and a decorated car parade are new at this year’s Holly Trail fundraiser set for Saturday, Dec. 2, in Orwigsburg. Proceeds benefit the Orwigsburg Area Free Public Library.

The workshop will be held in the new borough hall at 333 S. Liberty St., next to Boyer’s, from noon to 4 p.m. There will be photo opportunities with Santa and holiday games. Elves will be collecting nonperishable food for the Orwigsburg pantry and new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots.

The Orwigsburg Festival of Lights Decorated Car Parade takes placed from 4:30 to 7:30 in Center Square.

The parade is open to anything with wheels. It starts at the Veterans Memorial building and ends at the town square for judging. The top three finishers win cash prizes of up to $250.

Entry forms and the $10 per vehicle entry fee must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1. Forms can be dropped off at the Market Square Coffee House, 118 W. Market St., the library at 216 W. Independence St., and Route 61 Classics, 200 Pinebrook Place.

The Holly Trails day begins with a buffet breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon at the Schuylkill Country Club, 877 W. Market St. Make reservations by calling 570-366-0622. Cost is $20 per person. You do not have to be a club member to attend. Alcoholic beverages available at an additional charge.

From noon to 4 p.m. there will be interior home, church and business tours as well as tea and cookies served at Kimmels Church, 179 Pine Creek Drive.

Tickets for the self-guided tours cost $30 in advance and $40 the day of the event. Purchase tickets at the library, 216 W. Independence St., or online. Breakfast is not included in the tour ticket price. Addresses and a map of tour stops will be received with ticket purchase.

There will be a wreath and basket raffle set up at the library throughout November and a raffle the day of the event at Kimmels Church.
