Two Berks high school girls doubles teams have advanced to the PIAA Tennis Championships after placing in the top three at the District 3 Class 2A Tournament at the Hershey Racquet Club over the weekend.
Berks Catholic’s Sarah Schnatz and Isabella Logozzo, the third seeds who were the defending district champions, finished second, and Kutztown’s pair of Kaydence Bohning and Madelyn Maley placed third.
They will begin state competition on Friday, Nov. 1 at the Hershey Racquet Club.
Schnatz and Logozzo lost to Delone Catholic’s Baileigh Stetter and Ashley Heacock 6-1, 6-0 in the final.
Bohning and Maley, the second seeds in district, punched their ticket to the state tournament by beating fourth-seeded Amelia Summers and Nia Hafey of Annville-Cleona 6-4, 6-2 in the third-place match.
