Tyson Fawcett’s game-winner lifts Reading Royals over Trois-Rivières

Forward Tyson Fawcett propelled the Reading Royals to their first win of the season on Sunday.

Fawcett scored with 55 seconds remaining to give Reading a 7-6 victory over Trois-Rivières in an ECHL North Division game at Santander Arena.

The winning score capped a game that featured eight in the third period and 71 shots. Neither team led by more than one goal and 10 different players scored at least once.

Fawcett led the Royals with two goals, while forward Ryan Chyzowski had a goal and two assists. Forward Matthew Boucher had a hat trick for Trois-Rivières.

Goalie Jacob Kucharski made 35 saves for Reading. Joe Vrbetic had 23 saves for the Lions.

With the win, the Royals split the two-game series with the Trois-Rivières, which won 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday night in Reading’s home opener.

The Royals took a 2-0 lead in the first period before the Lions tied it 3-3 in the third period. Trois-Rivières won the shootout 1-0 as defenseman Miguel Tourigny was the lone player to score in four rounds.
