from Wyomissing Public Library
Several new programs are scheduled at the Wyomissing Public Library, 9 Reading Blvd., Wyomissing, for late September and early October.
If you are a parent of a student who is considering post-secondary education, or if you are thinking about continuing your education, come to the library on Monday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m. Dr. Sonya Mann-McFarlane, a Higher Education Access Partner, will explain how financial aid through the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) works, who it is for, how to apply, what paperwork you need, and more. The program is free and open to the public – if you’re a parent, student, guidance counselor, or teacher, you need to come to this session! Registration is requested, in-person at the library, via the library’s website: www.wyopublib.org, or by phone: 610-374-2385.
On Thursday, Oct. 3, at 12:30 p.m., Linda Zogas, Yoga teacher and former owner of Bldg 7 studios, will begin a weekly series of Chair Yoga. Don’t worry about having to get down on a yoga mat; all the poses are done from a chair. Expect to breathe, meditate, lengthen your muscles, and strengthen your joints. The class will meet every Thursday at 12:30 p.m. for one hour, and the series will run through Nov. 21. There is a $96 fee for the eight weeks, or $15 per class, payable at the time of class, to Linda Zogas; a portion of the fee benefits the Wyomissing Public Library.
If you’re worn out from the week by Fridays, join Linda from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., starting Oct. 4, and “Release the Week!” Bring a yoga mat and practice a liberating, easy flow into holding restorative poses. This practice will aid you in restoring your energy and releasing discomfort in your body. This is a beginner-friendly class, no previous yoga experience is necessary. The series will end on Nov. 22. There is a $96 fee for the eight weeks, or $15 per class, payable at the time of class, to Linda Zogas; a portion of the fee benefits the Wyomissing Public Library.
