Upcoming Schuylkill County Conservancy events

The following Schuylkill County Conservancy events are coming up:

Schuylkill River Trail cleanup, Saturday, June 8, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers should meet at the trail parking lot on Route 895. The parking lot is located by the bridge over the Schuylkill River just east of Auburn. Participants will be shuttled to the trail head from there. Last shuttle leaves the parking lot at 9:55 a.m.. Going Native Bus Bash, Saturday, June 15, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $30 per person and includes lunch and refreshments. “Porcupine Pat” McKinney will lead a bus tour featuring the Reier Residence in Pottsville, Hope Hill Lavender Farm, Nancy Petravich Homestead Farm and Ardella Newswanger Residence. Woodland Steward Site Visit- Riparian Area Tree Planting, Saturday, July 13, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 1861 Long Run Road, Schuylkill Haven. Learn what is needed to achieve a successful tree planting along a creek buffer. Property owner,Joseph Michalik will highlight the steps that were involved in his project. Forester Will Thomas will discuss opportunities to secure cost-share programs to improve forest and riparian areas. Geology and Landscapes of Frog Hollow Nature Area, Tuesday, July 16, 6:30 p.m. Stone Mountain Road, Schuylkill Haven. Join Jeri Jones of Jones Geological Services for a casual walk. Learn about the rocks beneath your feet, the evolution of wetlands and surface features not usually visible. To learn more, email schuylkillcountyconservancy@gmail.com.
