Wellness Council of Boyertown’s Thanksgiving 5K Run/One-Mile Walk returns to the park

Start your Thanksgiving Day the healthy way – bring your friends and family to the Boyertown Community Park to participate in the annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Run/1-Mile Walk.

Held by the Wellness Council of Boyertown, a program of the Boyertown Area Multi-Service, the Turkey Trot has become a favorite family tradition, attracting hundreds of participants of all ages and abilities from near and far. There will be awards presented to the top overall male and female, the top three winners for multiple age brackets for the 5K race, the largest family and the person who traveled the farthest, plus many giveaways for anyone who pre-registered for the 5K or 1-Mile fun run.

Registration on the day of the event starts at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 25, at the park located at 417 S. Madison St., Boyertown. The cost is $30 for the 5K race, $25 for the one-mile fun run and $20 for kids age 12 and under. A virtual option also is available but it is not included in the final times, and t-shirts are not available.

The Boyertown Turkey Trot was started in memory of Clifford Reigner, who was an avid sports enthusiast, athlete and long-time supporter of the Boyertown community and the sports programs. During his high school years, he earned varsity letters in football and track and field.

As a supporter of Boyertown sports, he was a member of BAFA, the Victory Mile and the Wellness Council of Boyertown, and he was instrumental in the building of the Boyertown football field/stadium.
