West Lawn defeats South Parkland in 11 innings in Pennsylvania Region 2 Legion Tournament opener

Charlie Frantz knocked in the winning run with a sacrifice fly and winning pitcher Nick Crocona pitched four scoreless innings in relief as West Lawn defeated South Parkland 4-3 in 11 innings in the opening round of the Pennsylvania Region 2 Legion Tournament Saturday at Bear Stadium.

The Berks champion Owls will face Pennridge, a 3-2 winner over Northampton Saturday, in a winners bracket game Sunday at Bear Stadium at 4:30 p.m.

In the 11th, Evan Gabaldon led off with a double and advanced to third on a groundout by Trevor Bilodeau. Frantz then flied out to right to knock in Gabaldon.

Bilodeau pitched around a one-out error in the bottom of the inning to earn the save.

West Lawn scored two in the second on RBI singles by Gabaldon and Bilodeau and one in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead.

South Parkland tied it in the bottom of the sixth on a three-run home run by Xander Provence off Gabaldon. Gabaldon came on in relief after starter Matthew Kramer walked the leadoff hitter. He hit the next batter before giving up the homer.

Crocona came in in the seventh and allowed three hits and did not issue a walk over the next four innings.
