West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary Club cleans up litter and plants trees

The West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary Club looked to make a positive impact on the environment for its annual Rotary Day of Service.

On Saturday, members of the club took part in two projects: cleaning litter along a local road and planting trees.

The litter cleanup took place along Papermill Road in Spring Township. The effort was part of the club’s involvement in the state’s Adopt A Highway program, earning the club recognition from PennDOT as a 30-year participant in the program.

The club also planted seven native shade trees at various locations in the area. The Rotary Club worked with Reading’s Public Works Department and city arborist Lester Kissinger Jr. to plant five trees at Schlegel Park Pool, and also planted two at Berks Nature.
