Who to watch, what to know for Tuesday’s PIAA girls soccer first-round games involving Berks teams

Class 1A first round: 3-1 Brandywine Heights vs 4-2 South Williamsport, 6 p.m. at Schuylkill Valley.

Class 2A girls first round: 4-2 Montoursville at 3-1 Wyomissing, 3 p.m.

Class 4A girls first round: 1-2 Owen J. Roberts vs 3-2 Wilson, 7 p.m., at Owen J. Roberts.

Brandywine Heights (9-11) vs South Williamsport (18-2-0)

The Bullets

Who to watch: Olivia Moyer has scored 13 goals this season, including three in the District 3 title match.

What to know: Won their first District 3 title. … Making their second appearance in the state playoffs in school history and first since 2009.

The Mountaineers

Who to watch: Goalkeeper Laila Shams made seven saves in the Mountaineers’ loss in the district championship game.

What to know: Despite being the top seed in the district playoffs, fell 3-0 to Southern Columbia in the District 4 final.

Wyomissing (22-1) vs Montoursville (17-2-1)

The Spartans

Who to watch: Hannah Hurleman is tied for first in Berks with 33 goals this season. She scored twice in Wyomissing’s win in the District 3 final.

What to know: Making second straight appearance and seventh overall. … Lost 1-0 to Bloomsburg in opener last year. … Last won in first round in 2008, when reached the semifinals.

The Warriors

Who to watch: Lily Saul has a team-leading 26 goals this season, which ranks second in District 4.

What to know: Lost 1-0 to Central Columbia in the District 4 final.

Wilson (22-2-1) vs Owen J. Roberts (21-1-1)

The Bulldogs

Who to watch: Natalee Vicari is tied for first in Berks with 33 goals this season.

What to know: Making first appearance in states since 2019, when lost 4-1 to Pennridge in the first round, and 11th overall. … Looking for first first-round win since beating Wallenpaupack 4-1 in 2013.

The Wildcats

Who to watch: Alexa Vogelman had a goal and an assist in the Wildcats’ win in the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship game.

What to know: Won the Pioneer Athletic Conference and finished as the runner-up in District 1, losing 1-0 in overtime to Downingtown East in the final.
