Wilson and Daniel Boone succeed at District 3 Class 3A wrestling championships

Wrestlers from Daniel Boone and Wilson won gold at the District 3 Class 3A Wrestling Championships on Saturday at Spring Grove.

Repeating as champions from Daniel Boone, senior Tucker Hogan won his third consecutive gold by winning the 189-pound title while fellow senior Dean Houser won his second consecutive gold at 127 pounds.

In the 127-pound final, Houser defeated Wilson sophomore McKaden Speece by a 6-4 decision. In the 189-pound final, Hogan defeated Cole Bartram of Northern York by a 9-2 decision.

Wilson junior Blaise Eidle won the 172-pound title, becoming the first Bulldog to win gold at the tournament since 2010. He is Wilson’s 13th overall champion. Eidle defeated Isaiah Feeney of Dallastown by a 3-2 decision in the final.

Wilson won the team title with a score of 129.5. Central Dauphin earned second with 124 points.

The Bulldogs had several runner-up finishes on Saturday. In addition to Speece, senior James Garica fell to York Suburban’s Tyler Adams by a 4-3 decision in the 133-pound final, junior Mateo Garcia fell to Kyle Deisley of Hempfield by a 13-5 major decision in the 152-pound final and senior Ryan McMillan fell to Chambersburg’s Aiden Height by an 11-7 decision in the 215-pound final.

Twin Valley senior Ean Winchester fell to Spring Grove’s Michael Hershey by a 3-2 decision in the 285-pound final.
