Matt VanOstenbridge threw 3.2 hitless innings in relief and Wilson scored an unearned run with two outs in the 10th to defeat Penn Manor 5-4 in a District 3 Class 6A first-round game Friday at West Lawn.
The seventh-seeded Bulldogs (17-7) advance to play at second-seeded Cumberland Valley (15-4) in a quarterfinal game Monday at 6 p.m.
Wilson scored four runs in the third to take a 4-0 lead, but the 10th-seeded Comets (12-9) tied it in the fourth on a grand slam by Billy Riggs.
Ben Kulp allowed one hit in 2.1 innings in relief of Bulldogs starter Nick Crocona. Kulp walked one and struck out five.
VanOstenbridge took over with one out in the sixth. He walked one and struck out six.
Losing pitcher Grant Fry allowed an unearned run on five hits in 4.1 innings of relief. He struck out four.
For Wilson, Jack Gabel went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, Tommy Hunsicker was 2-for-5 with a run, Christo Hunsicker was 1-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Nick Fiorini was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Greencastle 3, Daniel Boone 2: At Greencastle, the 13th-seeded Blazers (12-10) loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh, but couldn’t score the tying run in falling to the fourth-seeded Blue Devils (15-4) in a District 3 Class 5A first-round game.
Anthony Cizmarik led off the Boone seventh with a single and was sacrificed to second by Dylan Schueler. Christian Eckstein (2-for-3) followed with an infield single to advance Cizmarik to third, then stole second.
Nico Gualtieri lined out to second after hitting a ball that would have knocked in two runs but was ruled foul.
Mason Walter was intentionally walked before Landon Huth struck out Ethan Rissmiller swinging to end it.
The Blazers tied it with two runs in the sixth on an RBI triple by Conner McGough and an RBI single by Eli Rhoads.
Greencastle scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth to go up 3-2.
Middletown 7, Berks Catholic 6: At Middletown, the eighth-seeded Blue Raiders (12-8) scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat the ninth-seeded Saints (13-8) in a District 3 Class 4A first-round game.
Berks Catholic, which had trailed since giving up four runs in the first, scored five runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-5 lead.
Trey Stricker went 2-for-3, Dennys Rodriguez-Rivera had two RBIs and Matthew Sterner had a triple and an RBI for Berks Catholic.
Greenwood 12, Alliance Christian 2: At Millerstown, the fourth-seeded Wildcats (10-11) scored five runs in the second and five in the third to beat the fifth-seeded Gryphons (7-6) in five innings in a District 3 Class 1A quarterfinal.
Josh Fitzmier and Cole Boyles each went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Alliance Christian.
