Wilson grad shines in PSAC swimming championships

Wilson High graduate Rylee Wenzel capped off her senior season at Bloomsburg University by winning two individual events in the PSAC Swimming Championships and competing at the NCAA Division II championships.

Wenzel won the 50 freestyle in the conference meet in 22.97 and then won the 100 freestyle in 50.10. Both times were Bloomsburg school records.

Wenzel won both events last year at the PSAC championships as well as the 100 butterfly.

She also swam anchor on the Huskies’ winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays this year at the conference meet.

At the NCAA championships, Wenzel just missed qualifying for the finals in the 50 freestyle, taking 21st in the prelims in 23.31, just .07 off the final spot for the finals.

In the 100 freestyle at the NCAAs, she took 36th overall in 51.24 in the prelims.

She then swam on the Huskies’ 200 freestyle relay which finished 18th overall in 1:33.73. Wenzel swam the anchor leg in 22.70 for 50 yards.

She is an Early Child Education/Special Education major.
