Wilson’s Caryn Rippey wins two medals at the state indoor track and field championships

Wilson senior Caryn Rippey won two medals Sunday to lead Berks athletes at the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association Indoor State Championships at Penn State’s Multisport Indoor Facility.

Rippey finished third in the mile in 4:59.97 and sixth in the 3000 at 10:08.41.

Matching Rippey for the best finish among Berks competitors was Berks Catholic’s Brady Mider, who placed third in the boys shot put at 54-4.5.

Berks athletes won six other medals.

Finishing fourth were Twin Valley’s Anthony Engle in the boys 800 (1:55.52) and Gov. Mifflin’s Annika Ermold in the girls shot put (39-11.50).

Coming in fifth were Muhlenberg’s Gabriel Sample in the boys triple jump (44-3), Wilson’s Katie Dallas in the girls 800 (2:15.04) and the Exeter girls distance relay of Maddie Holbrook, Helene Shevick, Gabby Keith and Kira Marr (12:50.84).

Boyertown’s Jayden Miller placed eighth in the boys shot put (50-0.5).
