Wilson’s Kaitlyn Gundersen voted Berks girls water polo Player of the Year

Wilson senior Kaitlyn Gundersen has been voted the Berks County girls water polo Player of the Year after helping the Bulldogs earn a runner-up finish in this year’s state tournament.

Gundersen had 57 goals and nine assists to help the Bulldogs compile a 22-4 record.

Joining Gundersen on the All-Berks team are Wilson’s Kayla Dietrich and Avonlea Lechleitner, Gov. Mifflin’s Ella Tice and Abby Steckiel, Muhlenberg’s Samara Eschleman and Sydney Gring, and Exeter’s Megan Unruh.

Dietrich had 46 goals and 40 assists for the Bulldogs and Lechleitner finished with 44 goals and 24 assists.

Tice led Gov. Mifflin with 113 goals and 24 assists and Steckiel had 39 goals and 32 assists.

Eschleman led Muhlenberg with109 goals and 60 assists, followed by Gring with 85 goals and 45 assists.

Unruh had 190 goals and 25 assists for the Eagles.

Wilson’s Chris Lechleitner was voted the Coach of the Year.
