Wind advisory issued for Berks

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Berks County, beginning this afternoon at 4.

The advisory, which runs until 4 a.m. Thursday, warns of west to northwest winds at 20 mph to 30 mph, with expected gusts of 40 mph to 50 mph.

The service advises securing outdoor items. Tree limbs could be blown down, and power outages may occur.

The winds will increase abruptly as a strong cold front crosses the area this evening, the service said.

The strongest winds will diminish overnight, but breezy conditions are expected to continue through Thursday.

The service advises drivers to use caution, especially if they are operating a high-profile vehicle.

Today’s high is forecast in the low 60s before dropping to 27 tonight.

Thursday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high around 40.
