Winner grabs more than $900 worth of grocery items in United Way of Berks County shopping spree

In just a three-minute dash through the Redner’s Fresh Market in Wyomissing, Stephanie Godek stocked up on more than $900 worth of groceries and other goods.

Godek of Exeter Township was randomly selected as the winner of the shopping spree from those who contributed $4 or more per week to the United Way of Berks County’s 2023 campaign.

An employee of Carpenter Technology Corp., she filled shopping carts with frozen meats and seafood and assorted paper products worth a total of $933.

This was the 11th year the employee-owned, Berks County-based supermarket chain hosted the event.

The United Way raised more than $11 million last year, surpassing its campaign goal. The funds support community needs within the organization’s focus areas of education, financial stability, health and safety net services.

United Way annual program investments help more than 150,000 Berks Countians annually, according to the organization.
