The Wyomissing Area School Board has approved promoting Mark D. Boyer from business administrator to chief financial officer.
At a meeting Sept. 9, the board voted 9-0 to approve a new five-year contract with Boyer, which includes the promotion, the district said in a press release.
Boyer has served as the district’s business administrator for the past 10 years, overseeing the schools’ budget, payroll, accounting and financial reporting, as well as the facilities, food services, and safety and security departments.
As part of his new responsibilities, he will also be assuming district-level oversight of the athletic department, according to the release.
Superintendent Dr. Melissa Woodward said she was grateful to the school board for approving Boyer’s well-deserved promotion.
“Over the last 10 years, Mr. Boyer has served as a valued and trusted member of WASD’s leadership team, which included successfully guiding us through the financial uncertainties during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Woodward said in the release. “I look forward to watching him continue to grow in his new role as a member of our cabinet.”
Before his work with Wyomissing, Boyer served as assistant business manager for the Daniel Boone Area School District.
Prior to that, he spent 12 years with the Berks County government serving as fiscal director for youth detention and shelter and manager of financial planning and analysis with the county budget office.
Boyer earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting at Albright College and his Master of Business Administration at Alvernia University.
District administrators declined to provide Boyer’s salary information.
