Customers who shop at Giant will have the opportunity to sample some plant-based products from a new vendor coming to Giant stores.
ZENB is a food brand known for its single ingredient yellow pea pasta. The company will stop at several Giant stores in the area from July 19 through July 28.
The company is currently on a nationwide tour with its mobile Plant Pantry — the company’s mobile kitchen — and has added the region onto its tour to celebrate the addition of its products to Giant.
Stops are planned in Chester, Montgomery, Delaware and Bucks counties, according to the company. At each stop, ZENB will offer free samples of its gluten-free spaghetti. During the family-friendly event, customers will have the chance to enjoy free lite bites and receive swag from the mobile kitchen.
In a press release announcing the tour, ZENB acknowledges that Philadelphia is the birthplace of the vegetarian movement and said it is coming to the area to “revitalize the area’s plant-based heritage with yellow pea pantry staples that rival the taste and texture of the best local pastas.”
In an emailed response to questions, a spokeswoman for the Carlisle-based The Giant Co. said the supermarket chain is always looking for new products that meet the needs of customers and help them live healthier lives. She added that customers have indicated they are looking for more plant-based options.
“We think ZENB’s concept of ‘adding less and wasting nothing’ will really resonate with our customers, and we also love that we’re helping to bring another woman-owned brand to our customers,” Ashley Flower, manager of public relations for The Giant Co., said in the emailed response.
Flower added that the products are newly available, and include three pasta varieties from ZENB: Penne, Rotini, and Elbow. They are currently available in 140 Giant stores and online and retail for $3.99.
