Albright College is one of 42 recipients of state grants aimed at supporting quality educational opportunities and experiences for kindergarten through 12th grade students in computer science, science, technology, engineering and math.
Albright College is the lone Berks County recipient in this round of PAsmart Advancing Grants. The college will receive $499,400 for an esports program called “Esports Unleashed: The Arena of Futurity.”
Gov. Tom Wolf on Tuesday announced the awarding of $20 million through PAsmart Advancing Grant.
“Our historic investments in education throughout my administration are ensuring a better future for our children and a stronger Pennsylvania,” Wolf said in a statement. “These PAsmart awards focused on STEM education are particularly valuable in putting commonwealth students on a path to the best jobs of the future.”
Acting Education Secretary Eric Hagarty said the grants help students prepare for the jobs of tomorrow.
“Equitable access to STEM and computer science programs gives students from all walks of life the skills they need to obtain meaningful, family-sustaining careers, and these grants will provide thousands more learners the opportunity to build on their skillset, grow and achieve,” he said.
