Albright’s women’s game vs. Widener, Kutztown University’s men’s game vs. West Chester postponed by COVID

COVID-19 continues to impact the local college basketball schedule.

The Kutztown men’s home game vs. West Chester and the Albright women’s home game against Widener scheduled for Wednesday have been postponed, the schools announced Tuesday.

The Golden Bears’ Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East opener at Keystone Arena is off because of COVID-19 concerns within the Golden Rams’ program.

No makeup date has been determined.

The Kutztown women still will host West Chester at 5:30 p.m.

The Lions’ MAC Commonwealth game at the Bollman Center is off due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols involving Albright.

It has not been determined if the game will be rescheduled.

Per Middle Atlantic Conference policies, the game will result in a forfeit for Albright, but will only count toward its conference record. According to NCAA guidelines, it will not count toward the Lions’ overall record.

The Albright men still will host Widener Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The women’s schedule for the Lions has been significantly disrupted over the last 10 days.

Albright was supposed to travel to Naples, Fla., for the D3 Naples Shootout on Dec. 28 and Dec. 29, but opted not to because of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases.

Instead, a game was scheduled for Dec. 30 against Scranton at the Bollman Center, but that game was postponed due to health and safety protocols with the Albright program.

The Lions (7-3) last played on Dec. 18, beating Moravian 65-48. They are scheduled to play at Lebanon Valley Saturday.
