Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County (BCSS) is pleased to share that it has received a $2,000 grant from the M&T Charitable Foundation. We are honored to be the recipient of this grant that will provide programming for local breast cancer survivors, their family members, and caregivers at no cost to them.
The BCSS Board of Directors and staff want to thank the team at the M&T Charitable Foundation for their generous support. “We recognize the vital role of BCSS in Berks County. At M&T, supporting our local communities is core to our business, and we are proud to assist the compassionate, healing programming that BCSS offers to those, like myself, in our region affected by breast cancer,” said Tiffany Micale, Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President of M&T Bank Birdsboro. In addition to receiving the grant from the M&T Charitable Foundation, M&T Bank staff members volunteer on our Board of Directors, Finance Committee, at our annual Pink Passion for Fashion Show and Hear Our Voices Team Holly 5K. We are grateful for their partnership and generosity with their time and talent.
Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County is a survivor-driven organization that provides hope, emotional support, education, and resources to every person affected by breast cancer. BCSS offers a variety of peer-to-peer support groups and resources, educational programs and workshops, comfort bags, creative arts, counseling assistance, and both email-a-survivor and phone line support systems to local breast cancer survivors. In July, we began our 30th year of service to the Berks County community. Since our inception in July of 1994, we have continued to raise 100% of our operating budget annually as all our programs, services, and resources are provided at no charge to survivors, their family members, and caregivers.
There is no other organization like BCSS in Berks County. Our work is crucial to our community, providing hope, comfort, and care throughout a time when many may feel alone. We serve hundreds of women and men in Berks County who come from various backgrounds and cultures, and we pride ourselves in offering inclusive and accessible resources to all. “The grant provided by the M&T Charitable Foundation will provide the funding needed to continue offering programs to breast cancer survivors that support the mind, body, and spirit, providing stress-relieving information, advocacy, friendship, counsel, and nourishment to one’s creative spark,” said Michele Reinert, CFRE, Executive Director, BCSS.
The M&T Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of M&T Bank, is a 501c(3) not-for-profit charitable organization founded in 1993 and funded by M&T Bank. The M&T Charitable Foundation awards nearly $40 million in grants per year to thousands of nonprofit organizations focused on improving the quality of life in the areas the bank serves.
