BCTV Launches ‘Reel Berks’ Block to Showcase Community-Created Video Works

From Berks Community Television

Berks County storytellers have a new way to feature their creative work with the launch of Reel Berks, a dedicated programming block on BCTV highlighting locally created videos.

Premiering Saturday, March 29, Reel Berks will air every Saturday starting at 9 p.m. and feature a mix of local short films, documentaries, art pieces, and other creative video projects, carving a spotlight space for local independent videographers and emerging media talent.

“BCTV has always been about sharing community voices, and Reel Berks is an extension of that mission,” said John Furdyna, BCTV Programming Director. “This new block is a throwback to ‘public access’ programming but with new life – it gives local filmmakers, students, and creators a place to showcase their work, celebrate Berks County’s creative spirit, and connect with a wider audience – and we feel that Saturday night is the perfect time for viewers to kick back and enjoy this original content.”

Jon Jordan, BCTV Video Technician, emphasized the importance of providing a platform for local artists: “There is a lot of creative talent in Berks County, and Reel Berks gives these creators a home on local television. This is a space where our community’s unique perspectives and artistic visions can really shine.”

Independent video content creators out in our Berks County community are invited to submit their work to BCTV at www.bctv.org/submit/video.

Kicking off the premier week of Reel Berks this Saturday at 9 p.m., BCTV will feature a special interview with local filmmakers Adrian Horodecky and Scott Kunkle followed by a double-feature screening of Horodecky’s films Fake Out Fray and Fake Out Fray 2. (Spoiler Alert: Some Fake Out Fray 2 footage was filmed on-site in the BCTV studio!)

With Reel Berks, BCTV continues to strengthen its role as a hub for local content, ensuring that Berks County is seen and heard.
