Do you know an amazing agriculture advocate or a fabulous farm woman? The Berks Agricultural Resource Network, B.A.R.N., is seeking nominations for several award categories meant to acknowledge and encourage excellence in agriculture-related areas.
One of the awards recognizes excellence in agriculture-related fields like science, economics, farming, veterinary work, philanthropy and more.
This will be the fifth year for the program the highlights the best of the Berks County agricultural community.
2021 Bountiful Berks Award: to recognize individuals or groups, or a project, that have distinguished themselves by achieving and/or promoting best practices in agriculture or related businesses.
2021 Agriculture Journalism Award: to recognize three examples of exemplary articles, blog posts, podcasts or television spots about agriculture published between October 2020 and September 2021
2021 Agriculture Communications Award: to recognize three examples of exemplary newsletters, social media posts, etc., about agriculture published between October 2020 and September 2021.
2021 Tressie S. Caton Women in Agriculture Award: named after Caton, a tireless and vibrant member of Pennsylvania’s Agri-Women organization, to recognize excellence in agriculture-related fields like, science, economics, farming, veterinary work, philanthropy and more.
Nominations should include a 250-word typed, personal statement or testament.
All nominees must live in Berks County.

Awards will be presented at the B.A.R.N. and Greater Reading Chamber Alliance Local Holiday Gift Guide Launch Celebration at Reinhart’s Tree Farm, Jefferson Township, on Nov. 1 at 5:30 p.m. Information about the Gift Guide Launch Celebration will be forthcoming and posted to berksag.net.
