Berks Sinfonietta, Reading’s own chamber orchestra, invites you to an exploration of Romantic orchestral landscapes and traditions on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 7:30 p.m., at Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing.

“Romantic Revelry” explores vivid musical landscapes through music that transports and inspires. Under the baton of Artistic Director Dr. David McConnell and Rick Barrantes Aguero, making his first conducting appearance with the orchestra, the performance will showcase a rich program featuring:

  • Antonin Dvorak’s “Symphony No. 8 in G Major”
  • Ruth Gipps’ “Ambarvalia” – U.S. Premier
  • Paul Creston’s “Concertino for Marimba & Orchestra” – featuring RMF Concerto Competition winner Ariel Metzger
  • Mozart’s “Oboe Concerto in C K.314” – featuring RMF Concerto Competition winner Artemis Drake

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to revive the Reading Musical Foundation’s Concerto Competition for Berks County students, and we’re excited to showcase these young performers from our local community,” said Frank Fraser, treasurer and string bassist for the Sinfonietta.

Tickets are available online and at the door. Visit www.berkssinfonietta.org for details.
