Caron Treatment Centers reveals revamped outpatient treatment center

The need for addiction and mental health services is as great as ever, and residents of Berks County now have a new and improved resource at their disposal.

On Friday afternoon, Caron Treatment Centers hosted an open house at its Caron Outpatient Treatment Center in Wyomissing. The center was recently renovated and expanded, allowing it to offer an expanded list of services.

Dr. Ramona Roberts, senior executive director of regional outpatient services for Caron, said the center along Park Road received a complete overhaul. That includes the addition of about 3,000 square feet of new space.

The improvements at the center will allow Caron to continue to offer the substance abuse disorder treatment for which it is known. That includes gambling addiction services that were introduced this year, as well as trauma-focused interventions that were added last fall.

Soon the center will also provide mental health services. That will begin with adult group outpatient and adult trauma services that will be available starting Oct. 9.

Other mental health services for adults and teens will be added in the future.

David Rotenberg, executive vice president and chief clinical officer for Caron, said the new mental health services being offered — as well as construction of a planned inpatient mental health facility on Caron’s South Heidelberg Township main campus that is expected to begin in the spring — are major steps forward for the organization.

“It shows the way we’re moving as leaders in the behavioral health fields,” he said.

State Sen. Judy Schwank, who attended the open house, thanked the Caron staff for all they do to help address the growing crises of addiction and mental health.

“We are very, very fortunate to have you here in our community,” she said. “You are unsung heroes.”

Schwank said the revamped center will be a major resource for those in need of behavioral health in Berks.

“I know that when someone comes to this door — or one of the many doors Caron has — they’re on the road to recovery,” she said.
