The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jiménez on the 10-day injured list with a low-grade left hamstring strain on Wednesday morning. The move is retroactive to Tuesday.
Jiménez is estimated to miss 2-3 weeks. He suffered the injury running the bases in the seventh inning of Monday’s home opener against the San Francisco Giants at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Jiménez is 4-for-20 (.200) with two doubles and three RBIs in five games. He spent more than two months on the injured list last season after tearing his right hamstring while running to first base in late April.
In the corresponding move, the Sox recalled infielder Jake Burger from Triple-A Charlotte. Burger is 2-for-12 (.167) in three games with Charlotte.
