The 12-player team — one at each defensive position, plus designated hitter, right-handed starter, left-hander starter and reliever — was selected by votes from league executives, media members and broadcasters.
Marconi, a 24-year-old, went 1-2 with 15 saves in 16 attempts and a 2.77 ERA in 34 games for the Fightins. He held opponents to a .200 average with 56 strikeouts and 21 walks in 43.2 innings. His 15 saves ranked second in the league.
