Fleetwood Community Theater presents ‘Charlotte’s Web’

FLEETWOOD — Fleetwood Community Theatre stages “Charlotte’s Web” at the Evergreen Club outdoor pavilion 7 p.m. on May 16 and 17.

A heartwarming story about friendship and courage based on the book by E.B. White, Charlotte the spider saved the life of Wilber the pig by writing affirmations in her web. The stage production is adapted by Joseph Robinett.

Fleetwood Community Theatre’s production features an all-ages cast of 23 actors with the youngest being 7 and the oldest in their 60s.

Cathy Leibensperger plays Charlotte. She has appeared in several FCT productions including Mother Abbess in “The Sound of Music.” Most recently she has been behind the scenes as director for FCT’s production of “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon.”

Wilbur is played by Taylor Troy, a Fleetwood 7th grader. Troy’s depiction of Wilbur is playful yet very endearing, quiet yet spunky – just like the actress herself.

Other actors include Chloe Parish as Fern, Kaitlyn Glickman as Avery, Lily Smith as Goose, Gabriel Crouse as Gander, Alyssa Osle as Sheep, and Hadley Sinclair as Lamb.  Templeton the rat is played by Dahlia Grille.

There are many new faces on the FCT stage, and several familiar as well. Homer Zuckerman is played by Jeffrey Jones. Playing his
wife, Edith Zuckerman, is a new FCT member, Karla Bartal. David Gieringer and Sarah Schoenly are the Arable parents, John and Martha.

Noah Parish is Lurvy the farm hand. Hannah Wegner, Ashley Murphy, Jackson Murphy round out the ensemble and KaIe DeCario is the narrator.

The youngest cast members Abigail Schwegler, Saylor Alfiero, Lilyana Osle, Rachel Osle and Willa Pinsk are the baby geese and
spiders.

Directed by Tara Sands and assisted by Evan Watkins, this show is the replacement for the production of “Rent” that had to be cancelled due to casting issues.

“Charlotte’s Web” is a 90-minute show with one 15-minute intermission. All-weather outdoor event, performances start at 7 p.m. on May 16 and 17. The Evergreen Club, 415 Hartz Road, Fleetwood, opens at 6 p.m. for dinner and drinks.

General admission tickets are $18 (ages 14-64), $15 for seniors (65+), and $10 for children (5-13). Tickets in advance are strongly recommended and can be purchased online at www.fleetwoodcommunitytheatre.com/tickets or by calling 484-793-0918. There is a fee added to all ticket prices online or at the door.

Both Fleetwood Community Theatre and the Evergreen Club are not-for-profit organizations who rely on their members and patrons of events to keep the doors open and the lights on.

The Evergreen is a small private German Club located in Fleetwood, established by a group of German Immigrants in 1932.

In its 36th season, Fleetwood Community Theatre is a volunteer organization of theatre lovers committed to the education and development of their membership within the theatre arts program by offering opportunities to all ages both on-stage and behind the scenes.
