Four players from Berks headed to NCAA field hockey Final Four

Liberty teammates Regan Underwood and Kendra Jones, Northwestern’s Peyton Halsey and Maryland’s Belle Bressler are heading to the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Tournament Final Four.

The four former Berks County stars helped their teams earn wins in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday to advance to the Final Four Nov. 19 and Nov. 21 in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Underwood, a Wilson grad, and Jones, a Twin Valley grad, helped Liberty knock off top-ranked Rutgers 3-2 in a shootout at Piscataway, N.J. Jones, a member of the Twin Valley’s 2015 PIAA championship team, had an assist in the game.

Halsey, an Exeter grad, played in Northwestern’s 1-0 victory over second-ranked Iowa in Iowa City..

Bressler, a Berks Catholic grad, helped Maryland to a 2-1 victory at home over Syracuse.

Liberty will play Maryland at noon and Northwestern will face Harvard at 3 p.m. Friday in the national semifinals. The championship game will be Sunday at 2 p.m.
