After 32 years of performing with the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble, Gerall Hieser, principal cellist, has retired at the end of its 33rd season.
In its announcement of Hieser’s retirement, Gabriel leaders and musicians noted that she has been paramount in the growth and success of the organization.
“We want to sincerely thank Gerall Hieser for her many years of talent, musicality, and heartfelt dedication to the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble,” the organization said. “These three decades of friendship and music-making has brought the musicians of the GCE and its audience closer together.
“We, the board of directors and principal players of the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble, cannot thank her enough for her time and many talents she has shared with so many of us over the years. We send Ms. Hieser the warmest of wishes and best of luck in her future musical endeavors.”

The ensemble opens its 34th season on Oct. 1 at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Schuylkill Haven with violinists Simon Maurer and Dana Allaband, violist Agnès Maurer and cellists Ai-Lin Hsieh and Sara Male.
