Centro Hispano is hosting a State of Latino Affairs event to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and engage community members about what it will take to keep strengthening the Reading community for all. The event will feature a keynote address from national thought leader Rich Harwood, President and Founder of The Harwood Institute.
This election season, Harwood is running a national civic campaign called “Enough. Time to Build.” Featured by the PBS NewsHour, the campaign calls on community leaders and active citizens to forge a new civic path forward, starting in our local communities, to overcome today’s divisive politics.
For 35+ years, Harwood has devoted his career to revitalizing the nation’s hardest hit communities, transforming the world’s largest organizations, and reconnecting institutions like newsrooms and schools to society. His Turning Outward approach to catalyzing change has spread to all 50 states and 40 countries worldwide. He is the author of six books and scores of articles and reports. He has also appeared in various national media, including NPR, MSNBC, CNN, PBS NewsHour, and C-SPAN.

Centro Hispano is a nonprofit organization based in Reading that supports and enhances the acculturation of the Latino population in the Greater Reading area through collaborative initiatives designed to enable individuals and families to improve their quality of life and the quality of life in their communities.
The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization based in Bethesda, Maryland, that equips people, organizations, communities, and networks with the tools to bridge divides, build capacity, and tackle shared challenges.
