IronPigs’ extra-inning setback ends five-game winning streak

Dom Nunez hit a two-out, three-run home run in the top of the 10th inning to give Columbus an 8-5 victory Saturday night over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in front of 9,259 fans at Coca-Cola Park.

Nunez’s fifth home run of the season came off IronPigs reliever Max Lazar (0-1).

Clippers reliever Bradley Hanner got Oscar Mercado to pop out to end the game. Mercado was the tying run.

Lehigh Valley’s five-game winning streak is history. It is 18-8 this season.

Phillies rehabbing outfielder Brandon Marsh reached base three times in five plate appearances, including a walk in the 10th. He also singled in the ninth and walked and scored in the fourth.

Marsh is 2 for 9 in three games with the IronPigs.

Roster updates

Cleveland called up Columbus scheduled starter Kolby Allard, a 2024 IronPig and Phillie. The left-hander allowed a run on six hits in six innings out of Cleveland’s bullpen against the Boston Red Sox. He didn’t walk or strike out a batter.

Michael Mercado, who has not pitched since allowing three runs on four hits in one inning in an April 13 game against Syracuse, threw a simulated game before Saturday’s contest. He was not placed on the injured list. The right-hander worked as a starter and reliever last season with the IronPigs and Phillies. All six of his appearances this season are in the back end of the bullpen.

Infielder Christian Arroyo, on the injured list with a hamstring strain, continued to take batting practice and work the IronPigs training staff on running drills. He has not played since April 6.

— Justin Crawford extended his hitting streak to nine games with an infield single in the eighth inning.
