Jalen Bryant makes free throw in final second to lift Kutztown over Shippensburg

Jalen Bryant made a free throw with two-tenths of a second left, giving Kutztown a 69-68 victory over Shippensburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East men’s basketball game Monday night at Keystone Arena.

The Golden Bears (4-7, 7-10) won in the final seconds for the third time in four games. Five of their last six games have been decided in the final seconds. Bryant made two free throws with one-tenth of a second left in a 75-74 win over Bloomsburg last week.

Kutztown led first-place Shippensburg 52-35 with 15:51 to go before the Raiders (9-3, 12-5) rallied and tied it at 68-68 on a jumper by Jake Biss with five seconds left.

Bryant finished with 18 points and seven rebounds for the Bears, who led 41-28 at halftime. Reading High grad Wesley Butler had 15 points and Akeem Taylor Jr. had 15 points and three steals.

Rashan Johnson scored 20 points for Shippensburg, Kiyon Hardy had 17 and Biss 16.
