In the final stretch before the November election, Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance took questions from the public during a town hall Saturday evening at the Reading Regional Airport in Bern Township.
Pennsylvania is a battleground state and will play a pivotal role in determining who wins the presidential election. Nearly 2,000 people gathered inside a cavernous hangar decorated with an American flag draped above a stage.
This is the second visit for former President Donald Trump’s running mate. He held a rally at the Berks County Fairgrounds last month.
The town hall was moderated by former ESPN anchor Sage Steele.
Vance has served as a U.S. senator representing Ohio since 2022. He holds a law degree from Yale University and worked as a venture capitalist before he entered politics.
Vance was catapulted onto the national political scene following the release of his bestselling memoir “Hillbilly Elegy” about growing up in a troubled family in a small town. He is also a Marine Corps veteran who served in the Iraq War.
Full coverage of the event will be published online Sunday morning and appear in Monday’s print edition of the Reading Eagle.
