The Berks County Parks & Recreation Department continues to present programs promoting nature, history, and outdoor activity throughout the month of March 2025.

Saturday, March 8 | Volunteer Invasive Removal | 10 a.m. @ Angora Fruit Farm
Come and join our efforts in helping the environment by removing and cutting back on invasive plant populations.
Free. | Open to the public.

Monday, March 10 | Ethan Tapper: How to Love a Forest – Walk | 3 p.m. @ Angora Fruit Farm
Join author and forester Ethan Tapper on a walk through the woods at Antietam Lake Park and learn what it means to love a forest. This walk will be entirely outside, rain-or-shine, so dress appropriately and be prepared to hike on uneven trails. Hike starts at the Angora Fruit Farm, 502 Angora Road, Reading.
$10 per person. | Registration is required.

Monday, March 10 | Ethan Tapper: How to Love a Forest – Book Talk | 6 p.m. @ Heritage Center
Join author and forester Ethan Tapper as he discusses his book, How to Love a Forest, including philosophies on human intervention in the environment and learning what it means to love a forest. This is a lecture followed by a short question-and-answer session.
$5 per person. | Registration is required.

Tuesday, March 11 | Trail Tales | 10 a.m. @ Heritage Center
Get wrapped up in a trail tale and discover plants and animal friends in our parks. This toddler-age program focuses on a nature topic each month, partnered with a story and a craft. Geared towards children ages 3-5.
Free. | Registration is required.

Wednesday, March 12 | Blue Bird Box Workshop | 6-8 p.m. @ Heritage Center
Join parks staff as we explore the finer points to enticing beneficial wildlife to your backyard!
$20/kit. | Registration is required.

Friday, March 14 | Full Moon Hike | 7 p.m. @ Berks Leisure Area
Walk the Union Canal Trail on the evening of the Full Moon! Wear sturdy hiking or walking shoes and bring a flashlight.
Free. | Registration is required.

Wednesday, March 19 | Junk Journaling – Part 3 | 6 p.m. @ Heritage Center
Join us for this workshop series to learn the art of junk journaling. A limited amount of art materials are provided, but please bring your own book and any supplies you would like to include in your journal.
Free. | Registration is required.

Saturday, March 22 | Camouflage | 9 a.m. @ Bingaman House
Join us as we explore nature and try to spot what most people might not see at first glance. We will have plenty of games and crafts about camouflage!
Free. | Registration is required.

Sunday, March 30 | Theorem Painting Class | 1-3 p.m. @ Beidler House
Join Instructor Peggy Allen of Heritage Art & Craft Studio to learn the history and techniques of theorem painting. Registered participants should bring $25 in cash or check made payable to Heritage Art & Craft Studio for supplies. For more information, call 610-374-8839.
