Kutztown Folk Festival is holding fall events

Editor:
This week, the Kutztown Folk Festival launches a series of fall events. After virtual festivals in 2020 and 2021, we were determined to return this fall to provide experiences steeped in our region’s rich history that also showcase vibrant local businesses, artists and artisans.

As the oldest continuous folklife festival in America, we are committed to honoring the traditions of the Pennsylvania Dutch community. This week’s events celebrate folk art and craftspeople, local farming, and traditional music, food, and dancing — with a modern twist. See www.kutztownfestival.com for the full schedule.

This week’s attendees will see many familiar faces, vendors, and activities, as well as some new ones. Many of these events will be held on Main Street, integrating our town’s merchants into the festival. Though this week’s events might be different in some respects, the purpose of the festival — to highlight the vibrant Pennsylvania Dutch culture — remains the same.

In 1950, nearly 25,000 people attended the first Kutztown Folk Festival. Recently it was named one of America’s top celebrations by USA Today and a must-see event by The Washington Post. For more than 70 years, the festival has allowed visitors to experience our region’s rich traditions.

I am honored to lead this great event. I hope for an incredible week, and I look forward to seeing everyone back at the fairgrounds for the 2022 Kutztown Folk Festival in July.
