Following its win in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship Game, Kutztown University will continue its season in the NCAA Division II football playoffs.
The Golden Bears were selected as the No. 3 seed in Super Region One, as the NCAA released the 28-team bracket on Sunday night.
Kutztown (9-2) will host sixth-seeded Virginia Union (10-1) in the opening round on Saturday at noon at Andre Reed Stadium.
Kutztown will be making its first appearance in the NCAA playoffs since 2021, when it advanced to the quarterfinals. The postseason run marked the furthest the Golden Bears had ever advanced in the playoffs.
The winner of the matchup between Kutztown and Virginia Union will take on the winner of second-seeded Charleston (W.Va.) (9-1) and seventh-seeded New Haven (8-2) in the second round on Saturday, Nov. 25.
Tiffin (11-0) earned the No. 1 seed in the region and a first-round bye. It will face the winner of the first-round game between two PSAC teams — fourth-seeded Slippery Rock (10-1) and fifth-seeded East Stroudsburg (9-2), who will play on Saturday.
The Golden Bears defeated The Rock, which was ranked No. 4 in the nation, 31-7 in the PSAC title game on Saturday. Kutztown beat the Warriors 34-27 in September.
